The government through the Education Cabinet Secretary CS Ezekiel Machogu has announced construction of 15,000 junior secondary (JSS) classrooms in preparation for the enrolment of Grade Nine learners in 2025.
According to CS Machogu, the government is ensuring preparations in readiness for Grade 9, that is domiciled in primary schools.
During his speech at Kangaru Girls during the National Drama and Film Festival, machogu announced that the government is also making efforts to recruit 20,000 Junior Secondary School teachers from next financial year.
The CS appreciated the Ong’ondo Drama and Film Festivals saying that it has improved the standards over the years adding that the ministry of education is in the frontline and will support the Creative Arts Industry at all levels.
In support of this , Madam Jacinta Mulwa, Head of KRA tax education said that partnership with Drama and Film Festivals is expected to see learners acquire relevant knowledge and skills on taxes at their early stage.
Additionally , the Kenya National Drama and Film Festivals chairman Mr Charles Odhiambo also observed that this year’s festivals had shown an improvement with increased participation and addition of more categories.
In support of this too was the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development Chief Executive Officer Charles Ong’ondo who also indicated that this year’s seasoned festivals have raised over Sh1.4 million total amount of money.
