SRC Warns ,No More salary increment Following high Govt wage bill

The Salaries and Renumeration Commission (SRC) has announced that there will be no upward review or increment of  monthly salary following high government wage bill.
The SRC has advised employers not to do review the salaries of civil servants inorder to to tame a high wage bill.
While giving an address on Monday during the 3rd National Wage Bill Conference at the Bomas of Kenya, Lyn Mengich  SRC chair announced that this plan will help achieve financial sustainability and harmonisation in the country.

Mengich said that all the  employers are should not to consider any review of financial items in situations where there is no indication of the ability to afford as well as  sustain a review among other factors.

The chair further added that Mengich all institutions should operate within the 50th percent which is the mid-point for  offering salaries .

Those below the above mark are also advised to be cautious as they focus towards achieving the mark .

She further directed that those institutions above the 50 percentile will have to retain their salary structures.
On the other hand , those below  the 50% percentile will be moved progressively towards the mark.

Mengich pointed out that 50th percentile midpoint is a payment method which was derived to ensure achievement of streamlined remuneration for all public servants.

It is important to note that salary points  is determined by the SRC.

Mengich also commented that the incase there is a public servant who is being paid below the mid-point, it is the  recommendation of the SRC that the employer effects a salary increment set at the required or to the near the point.
