It is important  to note that pension scheme is managed by the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) for those who are workin under private sector as  employees and on the other hand the Government Pensions Department for employees under public sector.

The pension schemes require that  both employers and employees to contribute same amounts towards the employee benefits later after retirement.

Inorder to check your total pension contributions, these wr some of the details you require;

  • individual NSSF number/ the Government Pensions Department number
  • Your employer’s details like   name and registration number
  • Individual employment start date and any other available breaks in employment

Simple Checking NSSF Contributions procedure 

Incase you are a  private sector employee,it is easier to check your NSSF contributions by following listed steps;

  1. Access the NSSF website  www.nssf.or.ke.
  2. Check out until you get to Member Self Service portal.
  3. Ensure you log in using your NSSF number and password. Incase you don’t have an account,ensure you register for one.
  4. Upon successful log in,ensure you select the Contributions Statement option to view your total pension contributions.

 2. Simple Checking Government Pension Contributions procedure

With the employees under the public sector, the procedure for checking your total pension contributions involves the following;

  1. Access the Government Pensions Department website at https://www.psss.go.ke/ Alternatively go to https://www.treasury.go.ke/pensions
  2. Then ensure you navigate to get to  Member’s Portal area.
  3. Next is is logging in using your Government Pensions Department number and password. Incase you have not  registered,create an account .
  4. Upon your successful log in,now do select Contributions Statement to view your total contributions.

Note that once you have access to check your pension contribution statement,some of the details you will see include

  • The sum contributions made by you
  • Sum contributions made by your employer
  • All the interest earned on your contributions
  • Total sum available for withdrawal as your retirement benefits
