Following final release of the teachers’ promotions slots, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has made the decision on posting and replacement of most of acting teachers with promoted staff members.
According to TSC , those in acting capacity who were previously unsuccessful in securing promotions will be replaced .
TSC announced changes are likely to affect teachers who have been serving in various administrative roles among them senior teachers, senior masters,the deputy headteachers, the deputy principals,the headteachers and also acting principals.
Towards the end of 2023, TSC had advertised 36,505 promotion slots as those who emerged successful are on now receiving promotion letters through their respective county directors in their centres of work.
The teacher promotion process remained underway since January, as a good number of number deputies assumed acting headteacher and principal roles following several teacher retirements within the sector.
For the purposes of ensuring smooth transitions and prevention of existence of vacancies in schools, the employer (TSC ) had directed county and sub-county directors to oversee the school management process diligently.
TSC teacher promotion interviews that took place between December and January 2024 had involved about 150,000 teachers who were lucky to be shortlisted.
Before the Successful teacher candidates get their appointment letters to assume various positions, TSC directed that they must submit five mandatory Chapter six documents which entail valid Certificate of Good Conduct,a clearance certificate given by Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), a Tax Compliance Certificate issued by Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
They will also be required to give a clearance certificate given by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), and also a Clearance Certificate given from approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
On matters of posting to work stations, TSC has signaled that promoted deputy and headteachers are likely to get posted outside their current sub-counties.
TSC promoted teachers who will take over as senior teachers on posting are also likely to fill vacancies within their respective sub-counties.
On the other hand, the teachers promoted through confirmation , most of them will continue serving in schools where they have been acting.
TSC will supply all the unsuccessful candidates with regret letters as an evidence of interview attendance.
