Relief as TSC Stops Sacco Deductions for the Following Teachers

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has halted all Sacco deductions for teachers from Bungoma County following serious concerns.

The  TSC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nancy Macharia revealed  this step during the meeting with the senate trade committee.

The action taken by TSC announced  on March 26 this year was after its officers had been summoned to the Senate to give the way forward following a statement sought by Bungoma Senator honourable David Wakoli on issues associated with the teachers’ deductions.

Bungonga senator had asked to be vanished with reasons why deductions cut from  salary of the teacher’s if Bungoma and directed toward a Sacco that was accused of embezzling Ksh12 billion funds .

Responding to this , TSC boss told the  Senate Trade Committee that the teachers’ employer only orders for the deductions stoppage TSC only once ther is an application.

Macharia  told the Senate that monthly deductions for a total of 1,165 teachers from Bungoma County under the favour of the Sacco had been halted.

Before this TSC  had been asked by Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah to effect an halt of the remissions saying that several teachers had withdrawn from the Sacco which that is nearly collapsing.

Omtatah had called for protection of salaries and other savings for the  teachers since they were all the properties for teachers.

This teachers’ sacco is said to have stated problems three years when after some of its members noted that they could not make any withdrawals from their savings.

To make the matters worse , these teachers are said to have been denied loan facilities despite having their active accounts with the Sacco.
