The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) categorizes primary school teachers into various job groups,with each job group representing a different level of responsibility and experience of the teacher.
According to TSC job grading system, primary school teacher begins Job at Group B5 and can later progress up to Senior Head Teacher serving at Job Group D1.

1. The Primary Teacher II / Job Group under B5 (T-Scale 5)
It is starting point or entry level for primary teachers.
Most fresh graduates start their teaching careers here after joining teaching profession.
2. Primary Teacher I / Job Group C1 under (T-Scale 6)
This area represents the next level of experience and responsibility of a teacher.
It is normally characterized by teacher skills enhancement and significant contribution to the education system.
3. Senior Teacher II / Job Group C2 under (T-Scale 7)
It is fir P1 teachers who enter secondary teaching.
It is a door opener to new opportunities for only those who have done degrees.
It includes the SNE Teacher II – Primary,the Lecturer II and also the Secondary Teacher III.
4. Senior Teacher I / Job Group C3 under (T-Scale 8)
Primary teacher can move to this level after being assigned further C3 additional responsibilities.
The Lecturer I, SNE Teacher I – Primary, Secondary Teacher II as well as the SNE Teacher II – Secondary fall under this category too.
5. The Deputy Headteacher II / Job Group C4 under (T-Scale 9)
primary school teacher can easily transition into roles of Senior Master IV,the roles of SNE Senior Teacher – Primary as well as Senior Master IV.
It is also the bottom line towards leadership and specialized teaching roles for the teachers.
6. Head Teacher / Job Group C5 under (T-Scale 10)
This job cadre indicates a higher level of expertise and responsibility that can be assigned to a primary teacher.
Under this category, the teachers are assigned roles such as Senior Master III,the Senior Lecturer III as well as Senior Lecturer IV.

This job group includes roles like Senior Master II, the Deputy Principal III, the Senior Head Teacher position, Senior Lecturer II position, Senior Master II position as well as the Curriculum Support Officer I.
This job group is attached with leadership and instructional roles within the primary education sector.
