For the case of the public servants,the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) chaired by Lyn Mengich sets the job groups and salaries and reviews.
SRC was formulated back in 2011 under the Salaries and Remuneration Act of 2011 with a core mandate of ensuring that there is equity and fairness in the public service
SRC takes the responsibility of harmonizing for over 7,000 public servants under various job groups which include;

These grade was formerly known as job group G, which covers the skilled staff whose monthly basic salary is between Sh19,859 – Sh24,823.

Thes is where teachers and Civil servants belong as it covers mostly top executives and senior specialists whose monthly a salary is Sh23,176 to Sh28,970.
C1 workers are not highly skilled but get a better pay earning of between Sh28,970 to Sh39,110.

The officers under this level gives a basic salary range of Sh292,765 to Sh576,120.
The level covers the highly skilled and specialized personnel with most high level management positions .
They also have high level of education that matches their working experience.
