Teachers through their KUPPET union have accused the National Assembly members for turning a blind eye to workers,more especially teachers who are facing numerous challenges.
According to the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet), the members of parliament are to blame for who they claim that they are deliberately avoiding discussing matters affecting government workers.
The KUPPET Secretary General Akello Misori has termed the Kenyan parliament being quite dysfunctional since they are unable to discuss matters of interest to workers, to instance some mps remain absent when serious debates are being discussed in parliament.
On the side of teachers,Misori indicated that several of them problems affecting them some of them being those that were presented before parliament long time ago.
Misori further indicated that the union has observed that law makers have been going around the bush and failing to look into issues teachers had presented to be discussed.
He also revealed that parliament has in the past been asking teachers to present a survey done to prove their claims When the house has its own department that conducts research for the matters.
Among the issues that currently affecting teachers including delayed promotion that also has seen KUPPET present the report to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Mr Misori promised teachers that the Kuppet union has not failed its members but it will continue to manage its affairs as well as fight for the teacher betterment.
