Govt Lists category of senior schools to Offer 3 &2 Career pathways

The Ministry of Education through the Basic Education Principal Secretary,Belio Kipsang has announcement government plans to to have each Senior Schools offer two career pathways.

Senior School will comprise of Grade 10, 11 and  to 12 learners .

According to kipsang, Senior Schools will be required  to offer two career pathways  inorder to make economic sense of what has already been invested in the various schools.

However , Kipsang also indicated that some national schools  will be required to offer up to three career pathways.

Speaking on Wednesday in Nairobi during stakeholder’s engagement on Senior School and Teacher Education at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development , kipsang said the 3 pathways are Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM),  humanities and performing arts, music and athletics,

The PS asked for support from  the ministry in mapping schools into different pathways that will take effect from 2026.

kipsang further indicated that they are working hard to ensure that the ministry is working hard to ensure proper direction on how Senior School will be conducted.

This is  as  even the ministry prepares to accommodate the first cohort of learners in 2026.

He promised that soon the government  will give guidelines on stakeholders to indicate whether the learners will be allowed to have a major and a minor career pathway.
