Following several attacks by the hyena, a school in Kaseveni in Malaa found in Machakos County has introduced hyena lessons in 2024 to its curriculum so as to sensitize learners on how to overcome attacks from these animals.
According to the school head , Mr Chrisphine Oluoch, introduction nod these lessons are necessary since the school is located in an area that experiences numerous attacks from the hyenas.
Following to the school’ s proximity to Oldonyo Sabuk National park, several residents from this areas have welcomed this idea following the regular attacks from these wild animals.
According to the school head ,the inability of the student to differentiate the animals is among the major reasons that could have contributed to the regular on the young students from these animals.
These new hyena lessons under the new school curriculum established in 2024 will be meant to help students learn on how to avoid attacks and some of the tactics to be involved to protect self incase they are attacked by these animals.
This movement has gained support from the parents within the region who have indicated that they have been living in fear for the safety of their children more especially when they are heading to and from school.
