New finding report by Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (FLANA) Report of 2023 shows that eight (8) in every 10 Board of Management teachers gets a take home from their payslips less than KSh10,000 at the end of the month.
The report on this finding was tabled at KICD in Nairobi.
According to the FLANA report two in every BOM teacher gets a monthly earning of between Sh10,000 and Sh20,000 per month.
In addition, the report Added that one teacher in every 100 BOM teachers gets between KSh20,000 and KSh30,000 monthly.
This report further indicated that the highest percentage of sources of funding the BOM teachers payment mostly come from parents who have children in the respective schools.
The payment these teachers receive is a true reflection how motivated they are to teach learners as indicated by Usawa Agenda Executive Director Emmanuel Manyasa..
As per to Manyasa, several schools are experiencing real challenges of sourcing funds to pay the BOM teachers.
Note that in every educate system, bom teachers are critical to ensuring the delivery of quality education across all schools .
As a result , there is need for the government to consider factoring in money for BoM teachers since most parents are not able to pay for these teachers.
