SRC and Treasury Effect Salary Increment for Diploma Clinicians

The Salary and Remuneration Commission (SRC) and the National Treasury have a agreed to effect salary increment for Diploma Clinicians Officers.

This is after the ministry of Health  issued a total of 1,270 letters for interns on Thursday last week.

According  to the letters , the medical interns are expected to report to public medical facilities across the country starting April 1, 2024.

The Chairman of Clinical Officers mr Ibrahim Wako thanked the Ministry  of Health for placing the Diploma interns,who have been  been out of practice for seven months.
According  to Wako, this is  significant step forward,hence the union continues to advocate for more recruitment.

At the same time , Wako announced a new increment of  stipend for Diploma interns, from the from the current Sh15,000 to Sh35,000 per month.

In addition , the Director of Administration at the Ministry of Health, Mr Adan Harakhe said that some 3,752 medical internship letters are ready for release to the health practitioners.

He indicated that of the 3752 letters ,will be distributed as follows;
  • A total  of 1,270  to go to Clinical Officers Diploma holders
  •  145  letters to go to Clinical Officers Bachelor of Science
  • 1,125 letters to go for Nursing Officers.
  •  A total  of 73 letters for Dental Officer Interns
  • 290 go to Pharmacist Interns
  • 849 go to Medical Officer Interns.

According to Harakhe ,the ongoing efforts to review the internship policy is commendable since it aims to address healthcare service provision and seal  gaps in the country.
