Ministry Releases School Capitation Funds Ending Financial Crisis

The government has released Sh23 billion funds through the Ministry of Education to enhance capitation in public secondary schools brings to an end the prolonged financial  struggles.

Several  school heads have been having hard time to manage operations of their schools , something that threatened even solving  for earlier schools closure.

According to the Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu,the capitation funds will be deposited before the end of this week.

The release of the funds to schools according to CS Machogu signifies the government’s commitment to the education sector even with the existing criticism on  slashing of the funds.

Machogu said that the capitation for secondary schools has remained Sh22,240 per student and the government is committed to ensure the success of education programmes.

The CS said that the government has not reduced the capitation since it is a  constitutional matter and at the same time the government is for not reducing  the allocation .

The release  of these funds , though late is a relief to several school heads who have having hard time to push school operations even as many schools plan to close by this Friday and other next week.

Speaking at Henry Kosgey Kibukwo Secondary School found in  Tinderet sub-county, Machogu urged secondary schools heads to ensure accountability in expenditure of the capitation funds.
