The government has announced that it has allocated Sh26.3 billion that will be given to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for employment of 46,000 qualified teachers.
Announcing this plan ,the National Assembly Budget and Appropriation Committee chairman Ndindi Nyoro said that TSC will employ a total of 26,000 junior secondary school teachers currently serving under internship.
Speaking during the official launch of Wundanyi Constituency NG-CDF strategic plan on Saturday, Nyoro said that an additional of 20,000 intern teachers will be recruited starting July to address the current teacher shortage in junior secondary schools.
For the first time, the highest share of the 2024-2025 budget was extended to the the Ministry of Education in inorder to raise the standards of education.
The 2024/2025 budget estimates , according to Nyoro saw the ministry of education sector being allocated 27 per cent of the budget for the year starting July 1, 2024.
Nyoro said that starting July 2024, TSC will be given funds to offer permanent employment to 26,000 JSS teachers that are currently recruited on contract basis.

He also added that TSC will recruit another additional of 20,000 teachers in a bid to bridge the current deficit experienced in many schools.
