Change of Ministry Schools Closing Date to Thursday 28th, 2024

A good number of schools are opting for early closing on claims of financial  strain bringing to an end Term 1 of 2024 as again questions emerge over syllabus coverage burdens.

It has been established that several secondary schools will begin releasing learners this week as a result of lack of funds to run the operations of the schools.

According to the ministry of revised education calendar , 2024 term one started  on January 8, 2024 and with this term expected to have the closing date that was set for April 5, 2024.

As programmed by the ministry,closure of schools next week Friday is expected to mark 13 weeks of learning in term one .

Early closure of  some schools in this week will result loss if one week of teaching  and learning time that could could see a rushing against time for the students as teachers try to cover the syllabus.

For instance Naivasha Girls Secondary School , that had initially set to close on April 4 , the Institution reviewed the closing date thus the learners are now set to break for holidays on Thursday March 28 as indicated by the the standard.

The closure of schools will see an  extension  of term one holiday that will stretch for a whole month since the learners  are set to report back for the second term on April 29th,

As a result, the holiday period for term one will now run for four weeks instead of the  scheduled three weeks by the Ministry of Education.

Huruma Girls Secondary School and Jamhuri High School, schools  within Nairobi are planning for closing and release the students before Good Friday for April holiday  2024.

Most head of Institutions have indicated  that failure by the government to issue  schools with captain had occasioned the financial crisis in schools leads to struggle to run day-to-day operations.

Financial  challenges have also been witnessed  in schools as  principals say that failure by some parents to pay fees for their children has made it so hard for them to run schools.
