The Teachers Service Commission (TSC )issued a list of over 36,500 teachers who were successful during the interviews that contributed to their promotions.
However, details have emerged from the Kenya Union of Primary Teachers (KNUT) that a total of 15,858 were left out by the Teachers Service Commission during the recently released promotions .
According to KNUT deputy secretary general Hezbon Otieno, the union will petition this matter where TSC is expected to respond on the same.
Otieno indicated that statistics have been compiled from countrywide survey done in 110 with several teacher who were left out submitting their details.
Otieno said that some teachers who have qualified for promotions have stagnated for over 12 years but the commission left them out deliberately.
Speaking in Bomet during branch elections, the first deputy national chairman , Mr. Otieno Hezbon said that there are several teachers who have retired without getting promotions.
According to mr.otieno, failure to promote teachers leads to demoralization of teachers in their work stations that the government expects to do delivery in the education system.
According to the teachers service commission, over 36, 000 teachers were promoted and another 6,000 teachers are yet to receive promotions to the Junior schools level as from the start of second term.
The commission announced that the printing of letters is complete and distribution of the same is to be district to the county TSC offices for teachers to collect them.
