Inorder to shape the future of teaching and teacher education transformation as the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has banned some degree courses, both science and arts disciplines.

The ban has forced several graduates seek other new avenues for employment, for they can not fit in career paths under the education sector.

Such steps taken by TSC are meant to shaping the education sector by reviewing and endorsing Bachelor courses offered in colleges and universities to stick to relevance.

The commission ensures that those who are aspiring to become teachers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their teaching profession.

However, several graduates who underwent training in the now-banned courses normally have found themselves at the receiving end since their aspirations to register with TSC and get along  with teaching career.

According  to the teacher’s employer, all the applicants with training in subjects not currently in the curriculum are ineligible for registration.

TSC does not allow them to register even if they hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or engage in course enhancement.

On the other hand, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement (KUCCPS) has issued a warning to joining students to verify the legitimacy of their chosen courses by consulting the updated list of certified Bachelor courses.

Through this, they may have a clear view of the banned ones.

TSC provides registration of new teachers guidelines to shed light on the required criteria.
