National Schools Selling Form One Admission Letters Exposed

Some National Schools and Extra county schools that were involved in the illegal selling of form one admission letters to parents and guardians will be aligned in court.

Currently, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is working together with the Director of Criminal investigations (DCI) and over 20 secondary schools in the North rift are under investigation .

The schools are said to have been  engaged in the selling of form one admissions letters.

Parents and guardians are said to have fallen victims to majority of these schools more so National schools and Extra county schools from the region.

According to details, the investigations on this matter are at the final stage as those heads involved will find themselves at the receiving end.

According to the Nation news,the detectives have indicated that suspects will be aligned in court and law shall take its own course.

Several  schools under investigations are those more especially from Uashin Gishu, Nandi, Elgeyo Marakwet and Trans Nzoia counties.

During this year’s placement of students to firm one, candidates who  had posted  400 Marks and above were placed in either the National or Extra County schools that they had selected.

Major criterion for placement of learners into secondary schools was based on individual performance.

About 1.4 million learners had some the examinations  who joined secondary schools, with a big number evident in public schools.

According to Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, he had  urged all schools to ensure that that all joining instructions for form one are complied with among them not buying admission letters.

During this year’s release of  the placement results, CS Machogu announced that school heads are not expected to force parents to buy uniforms for Form Ones from specific shops.

He also banned schools from selling uniforms to parents directly from the  institution.

The cs further issued tough warn school heads against charging parents extra levies against the ministry.

Machogu sounded another warning to heads of institutions on possible punishment should they be found violating the Ministry of Education’s policies.
