There is another ray of hope for several teachers who missed in the promotion list after the TSC expressed acknowledgement on errors in the recently released teacher list.
The notable errors in the promotion list according to TSC officials should be taken as common in mass promotional exercises and as a result , teachers should not put the integrity of the commission at stake.
Since the results were published on the TSC website, some stakeholders within the education sector have remained quite skeptical about its credibility.
As a result, those affected are asked to wait for official TSC promotion letters, that will now serve as the only mode expected to address any noted discrepancies.
With this, there is still another hope for the teachers, more especially those whose names did not feature in the list.
The messages expected from TSC County and Sub-County offices for picking of letters is likely to get them.
The promotion letters will direct teachers in the list on when report to schools of need.
Even with this , KUPPET and KNUT union leaders have lamented to TSC seeking it to release a comprehensive list showing names of promoted teachers alongside their respective counties or sub counties.
Through this, they say that TSC will clear its tainted image before several teachers.
I went for the interview, and the first question was what is your home county,I felt left out on the list because am not from this county. This should be addressed.
Promotion shouldn’t be devolved to the county level. Let panels be kept confidential at the HQ to uphold integrity. Most staff at the grassroots are gullible to bribery.
Let teachers do the interviews at headquarters. My last interview that gave me promotion was taken at headquarters.
I won a global award in innovation in teaching and learning in dubai in 2020 and I have never been promoted. On top of that I have attended 3 promotional interviews and each time I get a regret letter just because am in mombasa and my home county is laikipia. Some of my colleagues were promoted in their first attempt of the interview. What else should I do in order to be promoted? Am total demoralised and my self esteem is now very low. I wish am working in my home county of laikipia.
Promotion is a motivator. Partial Promotion engineers job dissatisfaction.
Some teachers attended the interview competing with their high school students several decades ago. To make it worse the “student” was in the promotion list and his/her teacher left out.
Does tsc consider advancing in education? I have diploma plus degree,My name didnt appear after attending interview. Its very disappointing.
It’s very bad to decide to promote teachers on the basis of age . the maximum a teacher can stay in s particular grade is 3 years.
Promoting somebody who has reached 55yrs plus is like a waste this person is already demoralized in the service for staying long in her energetic age without promotion. . Such trs have no interest of learners at their heart as they are preparing to retire. TSC should consider promoting youthful trs who are energetic and still have yrs in the service, especially those with primary degrees.
The interview of 2019 with the interviewers from the headquarters was the only genuine interview that teachers ever attended .I thank the person who produced that I dea. There was no bribery and no complain.
I was disgusted when I was asked to tell my home county. Does it mean I have to work in my home county for me to get promoted? Besides I don’t reside in my home county
I have stayed in one job group for almost 10 years, have a diploma but after interview which I did well I know, I missed in the list. Very discouraging.
Names and tsc numbers should feature in the promotion list otherwise teachers may not be satisfied with the process
The old teachers were also one day Young.. they deserve promotion
Promotion list should have included the marks scored.
I concur with the one who said TSC interviews seem more credible when conducted at headquarters. I am also a victim of regret upon regret on end during the so called interviews conducted at the county level. The last promotion I got back in 2010 was conducted at TSC headquarters. I think a lot of unfairness is practiced at the county level. How, surely can a teacher attend an interview with a former student and the student gets promoted and the teacher is left?? Doesn’t motivate at all. So demoralizing. Then there is the issue of co-curricular involvement. Some of those who get promoted don’t even engage in these, they only fake certificates and get through with them. This leaves some of us wondering whether integrity still counts in this life.
I have attended three interviews.First (2022 Feb)interview I didn’t receive regret letter from my employer. We learnt that if one didn’t receive a regret he or she didn’t fail the interview. No promotion.2nd attempt was in march 2023 I got a regret.January 2024 third attempt my TSC no.did not appear. At 55 yrs what next????
Tribalism would not assist our country. We need to to take, accept, or assume the responsibility of being in the Interviews that not all can be promoted at once KNUT and KUPPET engage our employer on ease promotion pathway. This was 100,1% TSC so we need our UNIONS Negotiated promotions Concerned Teacher
I attended the interview with high hopes that I will be promoted having attached all the requirements.Ibgot a rude shock when my name didn’t appear.I have stagnated in the same grade since 2014.What will one do to be promoted?what else is needed apart from the ones that were in the advert? People who joined the profession far behind us are celebrating. It is demoralizing.Kindly advise.
A good structure need to be put in place otherwise some teachers will remain in the same job group for ever.
I have remained in the same position for twenty five years. I attend interview every time they are conducted without success. I am contemplating to go for early retirement.
Adjustment of promotion in the system is another issue,I was promoted but up to date it has not reflected in the system thus I was not able to apply for the last promotion interviews.it is 3 years now and not yet.i have even gone to the TSC headquarters with no success.
It’s disheartening, will I ever get a promotion now that I am working in Kikuyu land,my name betrays me
It’s true that teachers working in other counties away from their home are disadvantaged,a CSO reduced my tpad score from 81 to 56 using a calculation that I didn’t understand but mnyonge Hana haki
My Take
I have a degree and PGDE. Am over 45…..being promoted on age was okay. Then are the funds available for enmass promotions?
The interviews were just…….let the aged trs be promoted as well as the ones who hav overstayed….we can’t b promoted at once.chances were limited n the number o applicants overwhelming. Today ni ww may b tomorrow it will b ma time.so let’s appreciate colleagues who hav made it
I have a Bachelor’s degree in sec option. This made me to get the biggest work load in my station. Having worked for 12 years and then a 28 year old brought to our station with a higher salary is not only demoralizing but also very embarrassing! What with 150 compositions to mark, poetry, oral literature, grammar and comprehension. In addition to 2 business studies classes, a social studies and a cre without an additional coin and in C1. Where can I run to? Burning midnight oil to mark exams has not left me not only fatigued but also sick. Someone come to our rescue!
I’m also disappointed stayed in one job group for seven years surely
We are glad to hear these good news. Carreer progression is a rreal nightmare for us teachers. Reasons
1. We teach in diffeent categories of schools..creating inequality in the measure used for results and hard work.
2. Different Geographical and social- cultural back grounds do infuence the results in great way.
3. Entry behaviour of the learners
4. 100% transitions…etc
Takeing into consideration all these factors , all teachers should be treated equally and hence get promoted, may be after a duration of set time period.
Warm regards.
