The Teachers employed under permanent terms have started warming up for the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) July 2024 phase 2 Payrise as a way of enhancing their earnings.
As per to CBA agreement signed by TSC and the teachers Unions, the second phase of salary boost will be implemented this July.
However, not all teachers will stand a chance to benefit from this much-anticipated increase,
According to TSC , it is only those who were in the payroll by 2023 July who benefited from the first phase will enjoy second increment.
In what appears to be a promised awaiting approval on the government commitment to education, the parliamentary budget committee has allocated a substantial sum of sh 369.94 billion to TSC that is within the Ministry of Education’s budget.
Part of the above allocation will be used in full implementing the crucial 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) that is meant to uplift the teachers’ welfare.
During the agreement the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT),the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (KUSNET) and the teachers employed signed this agreement.
According to the CBA agreement, the first salary adjustment was effected on July 1, 2023 which is expected to reach the climax on June 30, 2024.
Immediately after this , the second and final phase 2 of TSC CBA payrise which is slated to begin on July 1, 2024 that will run until June 30, 2025.
All those teachers employed as of July 1, 2023 are among those to enjoy preferential treatment during the rollout of the second phase, starting July 1st 2024.
It’s very unfare in pay ranges between C5&D1..a marked disparity of 20000kes. Public, study the disparity between each cohort and compare the C5&D1’s . Review should be regarded. Renumeration disparity is playing a big role in job dissatisfaction. Stakeholders, it’s your turn to open your mouth and rectify the disparity between the two job groups.
