EACC spokesperson indicated that Eric Ngumbi,was arrested after being caught accepting a bribe of Ksh. 40 which was part of the Ksh.50,000 bribe amount he had demanded.
Upon his arrest,the principal was escorted to the Ntulele Police Station in Narok and is currently detained pending waiting for further processing of the allegations.
EACC reports indicate that the Principal allegedly demanded for a bribe of ksh, 50,000 in exchange for releasing payment to the supplier.
The supplier had provided the school with goods amounting to Ksh. 410,000.
The merchandise supplier decided not to comply as per to the principal’s demand but instead reported the matter to the EACC.
EACC then hatched a plan to catch the teacher in the act of bribery .
Ethics and anti corruption indicated that several cases of the above nature are common in schools that see some Principals embezzle school funds placing under their care and custody.
The commission further indicated that sometimes school heads enter in collusion with private persons among them corrupt suppliers who draw money from schools without supplying anything to the schools.
If all our citizens may comply then Kenya would be a safe Haven.We Must fight off corruption in our institutions of learning.There is need and urgency.
