Kenya National Union on Teachers (KNUT) has vowed that by all means, it must ensure that the new proposed Amendment Bill by the Teachers Service Commission Act of 2012 is blocked in totality.

According to KNUT Secretary General Collins Oyuu, his discovery indicates that the teachers employer,TSC ,now wants to come up with some amendments which will only cause more damage on teachers.

Oyuu revealed  that he has so far already informed to Members of Parliaments to ensure they water down all that Bill  upon its appearance in the national assembly for discussion.

While speaking in Rarieda sub-county on Tuesday, Oyuu cited  that the newly proposed amendments more so on disciplinary regulations clauses for the teachers are quite harmful.

KNUT Secretary further indicated that it will be not possession for the commission  to single-handedly manage issues of remuneration of teachers.

Oyuu now assures  the teachers that he is ready to ensure that such Bill does not see the light of the day.

Oyuu further faulted the recently  released TSC promotion list  of teachers , saying that TSC is not clear in the manner in which it conducted the promotions, saying  that TSC has been quite on request to have a release of full list of all those who were promoted .

He further  indicated that some of the  TSC numbers  listed in the promotions belong to those who have exited the service due to retirement or other reasons.

Oyuu expressed  serious concern on several  teachers teachers who have been left out of the promotions , among them being those who  have stagnated in the same positions for many years.

He also said that others are those who  have done several interviews but all went in vain again .

KNUT demand that for purposes of clarity and fairness, the teachers employer should have produced the full names, the specific counting against the TSC numbers listed in the promotion list.
