TSC Crucial Message to P1Teachers on Advertised Promotion Slots

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has asked primary school teachers (P1 teachers) to take advantage of the promotion slots that were advertised advertised before deadline.

All serving primary school teachers with degree in secondary option are asked  to apply online by 18th March 2024.

The teachers employer declared 6,000 promotion slots for deployment of practicing PTE teachers to junior school to address teacher shortage.

The commission plans to effect  deployment of the third batch of qualified p1 teachers to teach in junior schools starting  second term slated in May 2024.

Successful applicants will have their  documents verified by their Sub-County Directors before they get deployment letters to schools.

The  teachers headquarters will also scrutinize the documents of the successful teachers inorder to ensure only qualified select teachers with valid credentials gain promotions.

As revealed by TSC CEO Nancy Macharia , junior schools need  a total of 99,045 teachers versus the current total of 56,928 who are serving at various schools.

Teachers with a minimum of a Diploma in Education with a minimum of C+ at KCSE (or it’s equivalent) are legible  to apply.

In addition, they show have scored a  C+ in two teaching subjects currently that are being offered in the school curriculum.

Those who were in the old curriculum must has have 2 principles and one  subsidiary pass at A Level according to TSC are legible to apply for the p1 promotion slots.

They should also have at least 8 units in each of the two teaching subjects.

Teachers with  a minimum of C (plain) at KCSE, with  a Diploma in Education together with a Bachelor Degree in Education qualify for deployment

Note that TSC recognizes a  Bachelor of Education degree certificate only meaning  that other who have taken Bachelor of Education under Primary Option are not eligible.

Improved salary and job groups enhanced are among the major benefits these teachers are likely to enjoy once their deployment is effected and posted to schools.
