The new TSC policy promises automatic promotions for all qualified teachers, hence providing a major boast of the morale and motivation within the teaching community.
The new decision by the commission has been prompted by widespread dissatisfaction raising from the persistent performance of the same workload over an extended period of time.
With the new TSC promotions policy, the teacher’s employer ensures that automatic promotions is granted in specific job categories,that is accompanied by corresponding salary increases.

TSC committee resolved that automatic teacher promotions id aligned with the association’s vision, thus serving as a powerful incentive for outstanding and effective teaching.
TSC new ranking system evaluates teachers based on effectiveness,the official teaching hours,teacher expertise as well as promising a fair and comprehensive assessment.

Most teachers will gain significantly from the appointment of teachers in Junior Secondary Schools,thus educators play a pivotal role in molding young children.
TSC should promote teachers with degrees in primary option to administrative positions in primary schools. Some of these teachers had C+ and above in KCSE thus qualified to pursue such degree course. These group of teachers feel neglected by their employer. They are the right group to head primary schools..
TSC should even give them some marks to make them have some advantage over others during promotion adverts.
Just my observation
Teachers with degree certificates should be given promotion and if possible can head primary schools .To encourage upward mobility and for better education efficiency, effective and competency.my opinion.
TSC should promote C1 primary teachers with Division 2 In O level and a degree secondary option to C2 .The employer has neglected them in the latest Promotion of 36 000 teachers
It is even painful to note that some teachers who were promoted following last year’s march interviews have not had their salaries adjusted to date.
Taking almost a whole year without salary adjustment after promotion is the most unprofessional conduct of the teacher’s employer… Possibly some guys within the body are dozing on their job.
May God of Heaven and earth touch tsc and let it remember teachers who furthered their studies to degrees and diplomas These teachers are suffering silently since 2014.
For teachers promotions should be automatic proportion to years of experience. Degree en masters should be added advantage.You cant get your degree at 25yrs with 2yr experience in teaching en head a school that as teachers with over 20yrs experience.
Tsc needs to promote the c+degree holders in primary schools despite having only one teaching subject since they are still used to teach in grades 7 and 8.
What is the fate of those of us who are deployed to Jss? Is there hope of one day becoming principal of secondary schools or we are doomed to be assistant teachers forever?
The JSS should be isolated from primary and be made to stand on its own. My opinion is that the government should set a side funds to build JSS. Primary Schools should be clustered and in one of them a JSS be built with adequate classrooms , laboratory science and library. We are really killing our future generation. The science content being taught at primary level needs a laboratory and expertise.
We have teachers who have now served for over 15 years in the same job group. TSC is just playing PR

Promote teachers teaching in special schools and those handling learners with special needs. They deserve a pat on the back

Lets have the promotion lists down to sub county level coz thats where the interviews were conducted.
TSC suspended promotions on higher qualifications in 2014,since then those teachers who missed those promotions r to date C1 in primary,they r ranked together with those with only certificates yet have degrees n diplomas, Nancy Macharia do u really know n understand this group???
TSC is not a good employer.All public service commission employees especially from job group N were recently promoted to higher job group some given even 2 grades higher without attending any interview. To make matters worse teachers are bogged by many grades one has to go through to reach Chief Principal at job group R which is the highest under the TSC.Those in the ministry of education are smiling all the way to the bank especially sub county and county directors who were placed at job group R and S respectively without attending any interviews.
Why are teachers discriminated always.Even their colleagues in TVET were given 2 grades without attending interviews.Unlike under TSC, their Chief Principals are in job group S.This brings the question, are teachers lesser cadre public servants?
Something funny about those commenting,you have just from the college and posted as interns and immediately you want climb in to headship , impossibility of highest order! With the qualifications teach 10-15 years with those experience your are seasoned to be trusted on that ladder.
Tsc has neglected SNE teachers,imagine there are teachers who are working for 4-5 years in a special unit and special schools not renumerated.Every time lodging complains through respective channels and no vain.TSC SHOULD consider the plight of SNE teachers in terms of employment, promotions and remuneration.It is very sad to have such skills with so many needy kids in our schools not recognized by employer.
19 years in the same job group is not a joke my friends. Those who imagine having a degree and teaching in secondary is a walk in the park, those are some of the experiences

I concur with a teacher who talked of teachers who did primary option in the university,had a C+ in KCSE and nobody talk of these teachers.When deployment to JSS was being done back then,the headteachers said the these teachers can’t teach the JSS from the directives they were given.I wondered,these children are in primary school and you say the teacher doesn’t have what it takes to be in JSS.Its very very demoralizing.TSC, here this.
How can the employer reward teachers with postgraduate qualifications? It is disheartening for a teacher to spend most of his working days, extolling students to work hard so as to become doctors and lawyers… while the same teacher, who is learned, should be satisfied to remain in class.
There are teachers who were promoted when they completed their primary option degree in the year 2013. Why discriminate the others really. TSC please, be considerate in this matter. The teachers have grades they require only that they lack the teaching subjects. Address this matter please
I request to be updated about the extra-curriculum teachers promotions too.Will president William Ruto’s directive that the 5000 music/drama and other teachers who managed to reach Kenya National Music Festivals 2023 be automatically promoted to the next level as he promised be honoured by TSC?These teachers are the talent identifiers and work very very hard for this talent to feature in the pupil,hence should be recognized and appreciated highly.These teachers are great advocates of CBC system! Please TSC,consider and honour the extra curriculum trainers for automatic promotions.

I’m a special needs teacher teaching in a special school, have attended past TSC interviews 4 times unsuccessfully, I have been in the same job group for the last 13 years, does it mean I don’t qualify to be promoted, losing hope in life is real, what is the fate of such teachers ?
