Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development CEO Charles Ong’ondo has announced that there are no plans to relocate Grade 9 to high school where Senior School is domiciled.
According to Ong’ondo, there is no plan or pronouncement that has been made by the Ministry of Education to move the current Grade 8 learners in Junior School to high school in 2024.
While speaking during an interview with one of the radio stations,Ong’ondo said that the years have to match the development milestones of the children who are the targets of the learning system hence there is no plan to transition grade 9 to senior school.

He further clarified that for Senior School, it will comprise three years of education targeted at learners in the age bracket of 15( fifteen )to 17 (seventeen) years.
Professor Ong’ondo further indicated that the role of education is considered to be more critical than ever.
It helps to sought out the increasing levels of violence and conflict hence forcing migration and climate change.
This means that you are leaving our children to the shenanigans going on right now for another one year. The teachers sent to Js can hardly handle some of the subjects which is logic coz they never trained for it.Take the learners to a place with teachers and infrastructure and stop killing their dreams.
So, where’s the infrastructure in the current primary schools? Where are the Grade 9 teachers? In the next nine months the labs, technicians and teachers will suddenly just pop up in primary schools I guess! Who are these shenanigans managing this disastrous CBC?
