The Teachers service Commission (TSC ) job grade C4 teacher is structured to cover the four levels of teachers who are charges with various duties and responsibilities.
The Levels include;
- The Senior Lecturer IV- Kenya under Institute Of Special Education (KISE)
- The Senior Master IV – under Secondary
- This SNE Senior Teacher – under Primary
- The SNE Teacher I – under Secondary
Deputy Head teacher Il
Normally c4 is commonly known to be Deputy Head Teacher position who will report to the Head Teacher.
TSC requires that this teacher to have knowledge on the development and implementation of the curriculum as well as education policies and programmes.
Deputy Head Teachers are answerable to the Head Teacher for the development and implementation of the curriculum, educational policies, plans and other programs within the school.
In circumstances where the Head Teacher is absent, Deputy Head Teacher becomes in-charge of the institution.
List of duties and responsibilities of teachers appointed to C4, Deputy Head Teacher II (T-Scale 9) and I (T-Scale 10)
1. ensure proper coordination and provision of guidance and counseling services to the teachers, the non- teaching staff and learners so asto instill norms and values for harmonious co-existence;
2.To enhance maximum discipline maintainance in the school by the teachers,the non-teaching staff and learners to create a conducive learning environment for learning.
3. To effect Supervision, interpretation and implementation of the curriculum by through ensuring that schemes of work and lessons plans are done by teachers;
4. Ensuring that there are internal examinations and assessments are carried out.
5. Ensuring proper implementation of scheduled instructional programmes.
6. Ensuring that there is necessary instructional materials sourced ,availed and well used by the teachers and learners to support curriculum implementation;
7.Getting in charge of stores requisition and maintenance of proper inventory for accountability to ensure optimum utilization of resources
8 .Effect Supervision of teaching and non-teaching staff for proper discharge of tuition programmes in school.
9. Ensure proper organisation and supervision of the school activities including maintenance of cleanliness and general repairs of buildings
10. Being the secretary to the staff meetings and maintainance of records of the proceedings
11.Maintainance of staff and learners’ records including school classes registers,the staff attendance, various leave management forms and learners’ discipline cases.
12.To conduct appraisal for the Senior Teacher and other teachers;
13.Offer assistance to the head teacher in promoting harmonious relations and linkages between the school and stakeholders among them the community,the parents and private sector organisations;
14. To effect safety and security of learners and institutional resources used.
15. To ensure that there is preparation of lesson plans,updated lesson notes, current timetables, the schemes of work and maintain academic standards in the school for syllabus coverage in time for evaluation;
16. Ensure proper teaching subjects of specialization to impart knowledge, the skills and attitudes to the learners.
17. Do proper evaluation of learners in subjects of specialisation and prepare them for national and other examinations;
18. Introduction of new ideas and programmes to ensure improvement in teaching and learning in various subjects of specialisation.
19. Ensure that teamwork is embraced through collaborative planning and teaching to ensure consistency and improvement in curriculum delivery;
20. Serving as a true role model and maintain learner discipline to create a conducive environment for learning.
21.Effect proper guidance and counselling services to the learners to instil norms and values for harmonious co-existence.
