Technical University of Mombasa Bans Listed Students’ Clothing

The Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) has introduced new dress code guidelines which requires all its students to adhere to without objection.

TUM University displayed a banner near the institution’s entrance, indicating  the institution’s ban on the following  clothing ;

  • bathroom slippers
  • hot pants
  •  caps or hats (except those worn for religious purposes).

The university  further has cautioned female students against wearing the following clothing;

  • crop tops
  • shirts that reveal parts of bodies
  • miniskirts
  • sexually revealing clothing.

 

The institution has strictly advised against the practice of having unkempt hair, male sagging trousers as well as clothing or items tagged  with political symbols or images that could provoke others.

As a result , the institution has now asked students  to dress decently at all times.

The institution says that the dress code may reflect the professional training each student hopes to attain.

At moi University prohibited clothing items included;

  • mini skirts
  • skin-tight trousers
  • ragged or ripped jeans
  • tumbo-cut blouses or t-shirts
  • low-cut blouses.

The University  further asked all students to dress decently in modest and appropriate attire.

The notice was issued upon the university saying that it had  observed and noted with concern the indecent dressing by some students.

As a result , all the students were cautioned to desist from inappropriate dressing while at the University declaring that those who violate the rules may be subject to disciplinary action.
