Primary & Junior School Athletics Events List From 6th March ,2024

All the Primary and junior school learners will start their athletics events immediately they resume from half term break which started on 29th February to 4th March 2024.

Immediately after returning to school, both levels will have athletics competitions.

For the first time, the junior school learners will also have their sporting activities in a different schedule.

With the junior school learners , they are slated to have the following I’m term one ;

Athletics
Cross country
Handball
Swimming
Basketball 5×5

According to the Calender, all Primary school learners will have only athletics events in term one.

Here is a list of athletic events that will be included in the first term competitions for primary and junior school learners.

1.Sprints commonly know as short races.

They include

100m
100m hurdles for girls
110m hurdles for boys
200m both
400m both
400m hurdles both

2.The Middle distance races:

These include; 800m, 1500m and 3000m both

3.Long distance races:

They include; 5000m and 5000m walk

4.Relays:

These include; 4 x100m,4 x 400m and 4 x 400m mixed.

5. Jumps:

They include; High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump and Pole vault

6.Throws

These include; Javelin,Short putt, Discus and Hammer

Guidelines
Note that unless indicated , all the above races apply to both boys and girls.

Other requirements include;

Present one (1) participant per school for short races.
Present two (2) participants per school for middle distance and field events which include throws and jumps
Present three (3) participants per school for Long distance events.
