According to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) , it will not consider deployment of P1 teachers to Junior Secondary School (JSS)who train in subjects that are not in their curriculum at the moment.
The commission earlier indicated that Applicants for registration whose training is in subjects that are currently NOT in the curriculum , they do not qualify to become teachers.
Unfortunately, even if these teachers hold Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) plus or with enhancement, they do not qualify
TSC insults that teacher training should be in line to their current Guidelines for Registration of new teachers.
For instance , those teachers who have undertaken a PGDE with the courses highlighted below are NOT eligible for registration as teachers.
The commission notes that these courses do not provide sufficient subject content and as a result, their mastery of the content in two teaching subjects is not adequate as expected.
Note : That it is only those teachers who have earned a Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree holders with a post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) who also have two teaching subjects are eligible for registration as teachers.
TSC has already opened the deployment portal for qualified teachers to submit their applications for consideration before March 18, 2023 .
Successful TSC P1 teachers will get deployment in earlier May to JSS to teach in various Junior schools.

Why not consider degree in primary education?
TSC should consider teachers who have furthered their educational level in giving them first consideration in any sliming promotion i.e teachers who specialized in primary option degrees. These teachers are frustrated and some had even C+ and above in their KCSE.
Commission for university education was a ware of universities offering degree in primary option, which I believe it’s very relevant for lecturers/tutors in TTC. How comes TSC is not recognizing them? Is it possible for TSC to consider hiring TTC lecturers , who have done primary option and are yet to be employed than sticking to those who are already in employment. Please motivate these teachers – most teachers who have a degree in primary option have the passion for teaching, let them be considered.
