Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has raised serious concerns over applications submitted by students who got Grade D and E in the 2023 KCSE examinations.

The placement body expressed the worries on Saturday, saying that the applications were low compared to the students who sat the examinations.

Kuccps further noted that those who scored Grades D and E represent the highest number of candidates  in 2023 KCSE .

Records from kuccps indicate that 494,317 students out of the 895,533 got grade D and below .

All the candidates with the above grades  were advised to take advantage of the extended deadline giving them room to submit their applications to join various tertiary institutions.

Following the experienced system delay, KUCCPS announced extension of deadline for applications to February 26.

A total of 494,317 students have been advised to focus on courses in that have few applications.

While issuing this note, kuccps indicated that the number of applicants selecting degree programmes is currently higher than those applying for TVET courses so far.

As a result, the placement body has encouraged those with mean grades between C and E to take advantage and apply for the available TVET opportunities.

In addition, students who got KCSE grades of D+ and E are still very low and are encouraged to apply.

Kuccps informed those who are experiencing delays to  walk into their nearest TVET institution for assistance.
