It is a moment of grief to a family living in Bomachoge, Kisii County that is now seeking answers after their student death in unclear circumstances at Riokindo Boys High School, three weeks after joining the school.
Details from the conducted autopsy on form one student Brian Otara’s body indicated that he had passed on following a stomach infection .
However, the family is dissatisfied with the manner in which the Riokindo Boys handled the medical emergency resulting to death of their student.
According to mr. Evans otara, who is Brian ‘s father, the school called and informed him that the son was feeling unwell and that he has been taken to a dispensary near the school.
He further said that he wasn’t nearby at the time,and then had spoken to her wife who went to school at that time.
According to the family , the school neglected an the sick Brian and they were only notified of their son’s sickness hours before he succumbed.
The parents claim that they had earlier informed the school that he was unwell days before.
According to Evaline Otara, Brian ‘s mother reports that when she got to the dispensary, she found that her son was seriously sick.
The deceased Brian had difficulties breathing and he had a fever, that saw made him sweat profusely
According to the management of Riokindo Boys High School claims that Brian died within the school premises have been dismissed saying the boy died while he was receiving treatment in hospital.
Even as the family prepares to lay Brian to rest , several questions have been raised on the school’s handling of medical emergency cases for the learners.
