Govt Lists 5 Requirements for Parents Fees Payment Via eCitizen

Following the release of new orders demanding fees payment via eCitizen,the government has listed a list of 5 requirements that all parents or guardians paying school fees must meet.

Based on the new government directive that will now see all schools and higher institutions of learning including Univers eCitizen fees payment, the parents or guardians must possess the following ;

  1. Have a  National Identification card
  2. Have a Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Personal Identification Number (PIN) certificate ( this is crucial for crucial for creating the eCitizen account.
  3. provide the student’s name
  4. Provide  student admission number
  5. Have the recipient school’s bank account details.

 

Upon meeting these requirements, the parents can then check cross the 5,000 government services available online on the eCitizen portal to a specific portal through which the fees must be paid.

 

Earlier on, the Ministry of Education had  shocked the sector with a directive mandating all students attending national high schools to pay school fees through eCitizen, but later after the cabinet meeting headed by president William Ruto has now included the other higher institutions of learning.

Defending  the plan, the cabinet has explained that the  directive was in line with President William Ruto’s plan to consolidate state payments  through a single paybill number which is 222,222.

In addition, this new directive according to the state expected to protect the school fees from corrupt teachers and accountants long accused of creating imbalances on the various learning  Institutions balance sheets.

According to the Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang, all the principals are now expected to provide bank names and bank accounts for their respective institutions inorder to control such incidences.

Even as the specific portal for fee payment is yet to be updated on eCitizen, the anticipated parents and guardians must-have requirements trying to foot the bill.

So far, the ministry has directed the school heads through a circular to provide their school’s bank account name,the  account number, the branch, as well as  branch code.

Going forward, there will be no  school that will be  accepting cash , one will be required to pay school  fees through eCitizen and must meet the eCitizen requirements for payment of fees.
