The latest Cabinet meeting has ordered the the Ministry of Education to digitize the education sector within a period 30 days inorder to end schools fraud to control parents exploitation.
According to the agreement in a meeting chaired by President William Ruto,it was discovered that the capitation funds that Government sends to schools must only go to existing children but not the ghost children.
The meeting was held at State House on Wednesday morning, 14th February 2024.
It was also revealed that digitisation in the education sector is being exploited as in the recent case recorded 10,000 national examination candidates who the government paid for but never turned up for the final exams.
As a result , the cabinet has insisted that now resistance to paying fees through e-Citizen is by those who have created parallel bank accounts, just like the way parallel pay bills are set up across the current public service.
It was further agreed that the process of digitisation of services must be extended to technical and vocational education institutions and universities.
This should also include at the Higher Education Loans Board.
The Cabinet further agreed that Kenya will host three major conferences this year.
