Public Service Commission through the Ethics and Ant-Corruption Commission EACC has raised an alarm over the use of forged academic papers certificates to secure employment and promotion in public service.
According to the commission’s chairperson ambassador Anthony Muchiri , investigations have revealed that there are over 2,000 cases of forged academic papers that have been flagged off.
This happened during the commission’s verification exercise that kicked off in 2022.
PSC has now raised a serious concern over the high number of forged academic certificates in the Ministry of Interior as well as the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
The commission has indicated that most employees at KNH have been realized that for the last 10 years, they used used forged academic documents to secure employment.
Public service commission had submitted the damming report to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and DCI to investigate the cases drawn from the 53,599 , these cases were forwarded to Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) for clearance.
Back from October October last year,the EACC has been investigating 172 cases of alleged forgery of academic certificates as well.
As per to EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak, the the commission is still investigating Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomurukai and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja over the same issue.
Twalib Mbarak has now indicated that EACC will recover all salaries and benefits earned based on fake academic qualification as well as Subjecting them to facing criminal prosecution.
He added that recovery of the salaries is according to the law that allows EACC to recover all salaries and benefits earned based on those employed with forged academic qualification certificates.
