The above new dress code rules came following concerns that were  raised over the style  of dress of the students.

At the same time, it was observed and noted with concern that the indecent dress by students was not allowed.

The university also issued a stern warning saying that a disciplinary action would be taken on students caught defying the code of conduct.

At the same time , a directive  was issued  to the staff members not to serve students who did not adhere to the laid guidelines.

Moi University  now joins the University of Eldoret (UoE) and Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) that are currently observing the student dress code regulations.

The announcement has raised a lot of opposition from students saying that the rules come at a time when they may not be able to meet the costs of buying official attire.
