Blow To 2023 KCSE Students Over 2024 KUCCPS Placement Block

Kenya Universities and Placement Service (Kuccps) 2024 placement for KCSE 2023 KCSE candidates may be affected following a petition challenging the credible of the 2023 examinations.

A community organization based in Kenya (Operation Linda Jamii) has sued the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) over the 2023 KCSE results.

The above case may affect the placement of students to universities and colleges in this year.

According to the petitioner,  the credibility and integrity of KNEC in tabulating the results of the 2023 KCSE examinations is under question.

The petitioner  presented a case in Milimani Law courts and certified as urgent, and madelevels accusations against KNEC including the lack of transparency in computing results.

Supporting allegations, he mentioned one Migori County  based school , Oruba boys that saw all students who scored D grades had a deviation of 1-2 points.

KNEC move to release provisional results was also put into question by the petitioner with the saying that a Section 12 of the KNEC Act which bars the same.

The change of results download  in the portal where with some candidates receiving an A- on one slip and different grades on another was also mentioned.

The education CS , Ezekiel Machogu was also accused Education of altering the grading system singlehandedly without consultation.

The petition indicated that the above powers are limited to KNEC only under Section 10 of the Kenya National Examination Council Act and any alterations outside this is illegal.

Therefore , this petitioner that Machogu contravened the Constitution as he did not involve the public while establishing the new grading system.

According to Linda Jamii ,the new grading system is still questionable since  number of candidates who met the cut-off points for direct entry had dropped compared to the previous year.

The case has touched kuccps 2024 application and Placement where now the petitioner demands for  conservatory orders to stop the placement of students in universities and colleges.
