Following the release of examinations, the Students who scored C- and below grades in their 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams can pursue diploma and certificate courses under medical field.
These students can get these courses at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and as well as other accredited institutions by the Education ministry.
Importantly, the KMTC institutions normally offer chance for students who sit for a certificate course to have a chance to upgrade to a diploma level
Diploma course in Nutrition and Dietetics .
Interested student must have achieved a a mean grade of C- minus general grade.
In addition, one must have a D+ in English or Kiswahili and another D+ in Biology/Biological Sciences .
Also one must have a D+ in Chemistry/Physical Science studies.
Also a candidate must have a D in any one of the following subjects:
- In Home Science
- In Agriculture
- In Mathematics
- In Physics
- In Physical Sciences
- In General Science.
Certificate course in Health Records and Information Technology
Requirement is a mean grade of C- minimum with another C- minus in any of the languages and a D in Biology.
One must also have scored a D- in Mathematics and a D+ in any of the other examinable subjects.
Certificate course in Health Records and Information Technology for (In Service Category)
It is a course which targets those working in the records department but have no professional qualifications as per to KMTC.
One must have scored KCSE mean grade of D+ with a D+ in English or Kiswahili and a D- in Mathematics subjects for enrollment.
Certificate course in Nutrition and Dietetics
Enrollment to KMTC requires a mean grade of D+ in KCSE with similar grades in either English or Kiswahili.
A Certificate course in Medical Engineering
It requires a a minimum of C- grade I. KCSE mean grade and a C- in English or Kiswahili.
Also one must be able to have scored D in Mathematics, D- in Physics and a D in any of the following – Chemistry Biology/Biological Sciences, Electricity, Metal Work, Technical Drawing subjects.

Certificate course in Public Health
Qualification for enrollment requires a C- mean grade with a similar grade in any of the languages.
It also requires D+ in Biology is also required plus a D in Mathematics.
Those interested must also have scored a D in any of the following subjects;others include Home Science, Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture, Building Construction, Technical Drawing, Electricity or Wood Work.
