Following the introduction of this curriculum, more details on the educational focus has shifted to secondary schools, thus reducing the workload in primary schools significantly.
The new Junior high schools play a critical role in educating students in grades 7, 8, and 9.
The system is meant to prepare for the new Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) 2-6-3-3-3 system after doing the national exam for the sixth grade.
Inorder to adapt to these changes, all the primary schools have been selected by the Ministry of Education and Culture to convert into secondary schools.
The Ministry promised to ensure taking appropriate steps to improve the infrastructure of these branches of Junior Secondary Schools (JSS).
