The Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has finally revealed some of the top schools in the 2023 KCSE examinations dismissing claims that Nyambaria took the top position countrywide.
Machogu rubbished reports claiming that Nyambaria National School from Nyamira county had the highest number of A grades in the recently announced examinations.
While speaking on Friday, the CS said that that statistics by the Kenya National Examinations Council show that Mang’u High School from Kiambu topped with a maximum number 82 grade As.
Machogu added that Mang’u was followed by Alliance High school which had (72), then Maranda (68) and Kapsabet Boys came in position five which posted 52 As .
Nyambaria National school from Nyamira which had 28 As has come under a storm with critics questioning its results as well.
The second position from the region was Migori with which had 66, then Kisumu with (59), and lastly Kisii (50).
Then Nyamira recorded 31 A grades.
The CS attributed the good performance of Nyambaria High School to the school’s leadership.
Machogu added that Incase ranking was done, the area where he comes from would rank 36 and Nyamira would be almost 40.
During the 2023 examinations period , Nyambaria school got attention of many education stakeholders following the knec officials camping the school.
The school also experienced allegations on examination malpractices something that lead to the council taking a step of suspending the school principal during the examination period.
However, after examination release , Nyambaria retained its victory follow the fact that a good number of learners managed to score perfect grades.
